Mothers Day we Were Blessed
Mothers Day May 14,2006 Mommy and Daddy found out that we were Blessed with a baby.(Emma)

First Appointment
June 2,2006 Mommy and Daddy have our first appointment. We saw out little baby inside my tummy. You were only a little peanut.

So Sick
June 12,2006 Mommy was admitted into the Hospital for severe Vomitting and Dehydration. I was so sick I tore my Esophagus and started to vomit blood. After 5 days and alot of fluids I was told everything was fine and was sent home. Upon Waiting to be admitted mommy blacked out numerous times due to Low Iron(anemia)

Yes Again
June 26,2006 I was back at the Hospital. Mommy could not go to the Bathroom and end up with Internal Hemrrhoids. They made me take alot of medicine so I could go.. YUCK

Blood work
August 9,2006 I had a regular blood screening called the AFP
Alpha-Feto Protein. This screens for abnormalities like Downs and Nural Tube Defects. Alot of these test come back as a positive and after alot of testing Patient usually find out it was a FALSE POSITVE Meaning FALSE. Well since I had been very sick and was taken off of prenatals and put on alot of Nausea medication I decided that it would be best to have the test done. The results take a few weeks to get back. So we waited..

The Results
About August 23,2006 I recieved a call from the OBGYN office while at work. The nurse advised me that the results were back and mine was a POSITIVE. I was shocked and did not know what to say or do. She states that the DR is out but that they will send me to a Genetics DR 2hrs away for a Ultrasound to see if it was true.

The Appointment
Monday August 28,2006 My Husband and I gather ourselves and Drive to Sacramento (CA) for our appointment. After sitting in the waiting room for a few minutes we were taken back into a little room were we sat for a while. The genetics counselor came in and started to discuss our family tree. We went back So far and there was no one that ever had any problems. She began to explian to us that the results total should be a 1.0 and mine was a 4.0 she states that this is not a false positive and that there had to be a opening in the body somewhere. They began my ultrasound at the head of the baby and continued down. Everything was going good until there it was Her Intestines just floating in the Amniotic Fluid. This is Called Gastroschisis. Then the baby turned bottom up and there it was A GIRL!!!
I remembering yelling it out and the tech then saying YES it is.
The Doctor came in a spoke to us stating that this is rare but easy to correct he will send me to the perinatologist for care.
We left the appointment sad and crying, but overjoyed to find out that we were going to be having a GIRL Emma Mae.

Perinatologist
September 13,2006 Our first appointment at the Perinatologist.
We arrive a little early and signed in. As we sit and wait we did not say much. We were placed in a room and the Doctor came in he also went over our history. We were then taken to the Ultrasound room. There she was our Little Emma. To make everything not so long for the readers. The Doctor stated that everything was fine and that she will be born in Sac and Have surgery soon after birth. He states that only a 2inX3in Portion was out. I was told to come back in 4 weeks. This is how my appointments were forthe first few time. Every time We got to see Emma and was given pictures of her. After a few appointments we were sent to a Pediactric Cardiologist. He too stated that the baby was fine Heart and all. He states that he will not need to see me again and will visit once Emma is born..

Just a reminder
During my whole pregnancy I was vomitting and had Braxton Hicks Contraction all day every day. I was being seen very frequently and was monitored good. At 28 weeks I was sent to have 2xweek NST(Kick Counts) at my local OBGYN. I was like this SAC every 2 weeks Local DR 2 xWeek. Very frequent. Also twice during my pregnancy I had bleeding. AT EVERY APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD BY EACH DR THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GREAT AND THEY ARE SURPRISED THEY ALL THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE BEEN DELIVERED BY NOW. THE DR EVEN THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BE GOING EVERY WEEK.

2ND TO LAST APPOINTMENT
November 14,2006 This was my second to last time that I would see Emma. After the DR saw me and again stated that everythin was OK. The tech brought me and my husband back again and Did a 3D Ultrasound. There we saw her moving her mouth and sucking on her hand. For those who dont know a 3D is loud on the belly for the baby. It was cute you would see her crunching up her face and covering her eyes. This was the best appointment ever. I even got pictures.

My last Ultrasound
November 28,2006 This was the last time We would see Emma Alive. This appointment was very weird and FAST only about five minutes.  Let Me remind you EVERY yes EVERY appointment I would ask how much of the intestines were out and how much did the baby weigh. Each time I was told 2inX3in for her intestines. The DR exact words were a moderate amount he has seen way worse, and at each visit I was given her weight. Oh you could see then on Ultrasound very clearly. Well at this visit It looked like so much of her intestines were out was more than any other appointment. I was very concerned I questioned the Dr and he states NO it's the same and he turns off the Machine.
At this appointment We were told she weighed 3lbs 15oz and was 16 inches long. He WAS WRONG.

Last NST
Monday December 4,2006 I had my last NST at the local DR.
Meaning the baby must kick 10 good times in 1 hour. At the appointment because I was hooked up to a heart monitor they only wanted a few within 20 minutes. My little angel was perfect always kick 24/7 literally. We would go into the exam room and within 20 minutes we woud have more than enough kicks and we were free to go home. Well today she was especially good the doctor came in and looked at the strip and stated we could go. He even gave me a piece of the strip.
I did kick counts every night at home since 28weeks. This was to monitor her movement. At any point a decrease was bad and possibly a sign of distress, but usually the decrease was over a few days.

Tuesday
December 5,2006 was like any other day I dropped my husband off at work and came back home.We had just bought a puppy for Emma. She needed a check up, so I took her to the vet. I spent the rest of the day at home until 3:30pm when I picked my husband up and went home. That night all of my husabds younger siblings came over and we played games all evening. LET ME REMIND YOU HOW MUCH THE BABY MOVED. ALL DAY SHE WOULD ROLL AND KICK AND PUNCH SHE EVEN DID FLIPS. TODAY WAS NO DIFFERENT. OH SHE EVEN HAD THE HICCUPS EVERY DAY.

Wednesday
Wednesday December 6,2006 Our last time we would ever feel her. She had the hiccups and I remember telling my husband to feel her. We laid our hands on my tummy and felt her for the last time. The day was normal my husband went to work and I laid down for a while. See I could not sleep at night, so I would lay down in the morning for about 1hr. Well I got up and did laundry for the day. I noticed that my stomach was hard, but I thought it was from all of my braxton hicks contractions. It was about 2:30 I called my husband and told him that I had not felt the baby move at all and for him to call the DR in SAC. (cell phone had long distance) The Dr called me and advised me to go to the local L&D to be examined. They did not want me to waste 2hr to go there. I think the Dr knew that something was wrong. I arrive at the Hospital with my husband and was placed in a room. The nurse attempted to find Emma's heartbeat, but there was nothing. My OB then came over and did a ultrasound and confirmed my worst nightmare. I could see out of the corner of my eye that there was nothing. I begged Dr Davis to please tell me this was not true. She states I am afraid there is no heartbeat. I will have the tech come in to confirm. The tech came in and did the last ultrasound he also states that there is no heart beat. THATS IT SHE GONE WHAT DO WE DO NOW.I DONT UNDERSTAND, HOW COME.

THE INDUCTION

Dr Davis states to me that if I am not dialated We can go home and grieve and deliver in a few days or we can do it now. I had not made a decision yet. So the Dr said she wants to check me. I was already 2cm and 60% effaced. The ony thing she could do was induce me. Cytotec was placed inside my cervix @ 3:00pm to help me contract. Induction is the most painful labor to go through. I called my family and explained what we Knew. I was then in active labor from 3:00 on contracting every 30 SECONDS lasting 2 Minutes each one. At 9:45pm the nurse came in and gave me another dose of cytotec, and still I was only at 2cm NO change. I labored all night I had FRONT and BACK contractions and my sciatic nerve was severly pinched. During the night I was given doses of morphine to TRY to ease the pain, but NOTHING helped. By morning I had not slept even 5 minutes and I was now vomitting from the severe pain. It was about 9:00am on Thursday December 7, 2006 and still NO change. I the recieved a Epideral after numerous tries Finally it was placed I laid down happy as can be, only to find out the line pinched off. So again I rolled over and had it removed and placed again. Just a few minutes after it was placed I was numb. I felt alot of coldness and weird things down there so I had my husband look. I thought I peed or maybe my water broke. I was SOOOO Wrong. He glanced down and said you are bleed very bad with alot of clots. The nurse came in and said that I was at 6cm and  it looks like I have placenta abruption. All that I kept hearing was you need a C-section, what is your blood type, and that I might hemmorhage. She called my Dr over and had her check me and I was now at 8cm(within 5 minutes) the Dr stated that she did not think it ruptured, but we needed to deliver right away. She went to get changed and all I could feel was the head coming out. My husband called her back in and she checked me I was at 10cm and ready to push. Once the head emerged my water broke, there was Meconium in it. then the shoulders came and out came Emma. I pushed for only 7 minutes and there she was born Directly into heaven as a little angel. Do you remember her weight only a week before well she was born Weighing 5lbs 8oz 18inches, and More than half of her Intestines were out.

Emma Mae Wadlington Born into Heaven on December 7,2006
5lbs 8oz and 18 inches long. She looks just like her Daddy. With long dark brown hair, and every feature like his. Emma only had My long feet, toes and my hands.

Our Little Angel Emma
Right after you were born Mommy and Daddy looked up and saw your beautiful face. The nurse stated to us look how beautiful she is. Nurse Debbie took her and gave her a bath and cleaned her up. Alot of her intestines were out and we did not want to see them so they dressed her for us. Emma was then brought back in to the room to see Mommy and Daddy. She had a pretty dress on and cap and was wrapped in 2 blankets. Daddy and I just layed there in the bed holding you and touching you. We remembered all of you features and everything abou you. Your feet were very big with long toes, your hands were beautiful and long just like mommy's. Emma's hand were Daddy's favorite thing they were soft and precious.  After awhile we had to say goodbye. Nurse Debbie came in and got you. She did alot of pictures and hand, feet prints. She even cut a lock of your hair for us. Mommy was kept in the hospital and released the next day..

                                       THE BEST
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and He whispered,"Come with me."
With tearful eyes we watched you. We watched you pass away.
Altough we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He chose to take the best.
